Sculpture Art Trails

This section is a collection of various projects I have produced for Wild in Art UK and for Making Trails. Starting in 2020 with an Elmer for Maidstone’s Big Heart of Kent Hospice. I have completed 15 sculptures so far, there are also private commissions in this section.

Elmer ~ Maidstone 2020

Entitled ‘Heart Memory Balloons’, I was thinking of when people release balloons when someone dear to your heart passes, they write lovely messages and send them in to the sky. The colours are based on Elmer the Elephant patchwork colours.

Big Hoots ~ Ipswich 2022

‘Crystal’ owl was inspired by the light falling through natural crystals, the colours formed are amazing so I wanted to show this.

‘Builder’ owl is based on the Great Horned Owl with lovely blue eyes, the Hi-Vis jacket was to appeal to the building trade sponsors.

The Big Splash ~ Isle of Man 2022

‘Mermaid’ dolphin is a hybrid, taking bright pink hair and scales to create a mermaid dolphin.

Follow that Duck ~ Hastings 2022

I was highly inspired to create a Pop Art look of a relaxing bath, one side shows a lady, the other a man, complete with cucumber patches for the duck too.

Tortoise Takeover ~ Jersey 2023

‘Terrace’ tortoise depicts St Helier the Capital of Jersey. The terrace of houses and the castle, the sea below shows sailing boats as a nod to the large sailing community.

Croydon Stands Tall Giraffe ~ Croydon 2023

The sunflower field has a more fine art look using contrasting blues and oranges but with an impressionistic look.

Shaun in the Heart of Kent ~ Maidstone 2024

‘Hive Talking’ is a garden scene with busy bees collecting nectar and making honey.

‘British Summertime’ has two scenes – one side is raining and the other is sunny. A typical British summer.

Cambridge Standing Tall ~ Cambridge 2024

‘Jungle Giraffe’ is lost in the jungle but using his long neck to see above the canopy. Large foliage covers the giraffe with small animals hiding such as a leopard and baby gorilla. The paints were a combination of metallic and neon to glow in the dark.

March of the Elephants ~ Lichfield 2024

’Time for Tea’ is a celebration of Alice in Wonderland with a Pop Art look. One side shows the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat. The other side shows Alice, the White Rabbit, tea cups and cupcakes. The trunk reminded me of a tea pot spout so the elephant head is a giant teapot. The background pattern shows the card suits – hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs.

Castles in the Sky – Swansea 2024

The castle (or rook) is used in chess so I created a design of tumbling chess pieces on a checkered board using the Welsh colours.

The Great Tail Trail – Bournemouth 2025

A modern day mermaid is laughing at the irony of chip paper with ‘Mermaid sighted’ printed on it. She has seagulls circling who wouldn’t dare steal her chips! A fun Pop-Art style graphic, perfect for Bournemouth beach front.

Buzz in the City – Chelmsford 2025

The bees swarmed through Chelmsford to raise funds for Farleigh Hospice. I was fortunate to have two bee designs chosen, one of which was highlighted in the BBC coverage. ‘Flying Fish’ is striking black design with scales and sea on the base. ‘Blooming Bee’ is a gold bee celebrating flowers and nature.
